About the Unity in Service Inaugural Ball |
|
The Unity In Service Inaugural Ball will be a new addition to the Washington post-inauguration festivities in 2009. The privately hosted Ball will celebrate the theme of American service and all the ways the American citizenry has and will continue to serve each other and the country we love. Particular recognition will be given to the men and women of our military at the ball itself with selected Service members serving as honorary co-hosts of the event, and a portion of each ticket price set aside to benefit military families in need through the Armed Forces Relief Fund. The Unity in Service Ball will be one of the many “unofficial” balls held the week of the presidential inauguration. The Presidential Inauguration Committee sponsors several official balls on inauguration day (in 2005 there were nine), with attendees often numbering one-thousand or more and ticket costs often more. The rise of the unofficial ball, some hosted by prestigious Washington-area societies and institutions and others privately hosted, has allowed many more people to join in the formal celebration of the presidential inauguration. The Unity In Service Ball welcomes any and all wishing to attend this exclusive event. As with all events of this nature, however, public tickets are limited and will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.
